Camp Rock - Day 2

I’m not really at Camp Rock (Wohoo!) …but I can honestly say that Camp Rocks!! I have really having a great time today. Yesterday was mostly a day of finding my way around all the “unknowns” of being here this week. Today I am thoroughly enjoying life at camp! I won my first carpet ball game today and this afternoon when I joined in to play again all the kids cheered me on and there were high fives all around! But the coolest thing to happen today (so far) was a couple things that happened during my teaching time this morning. Today we talked about Tribal people and what they believe. The picture I have is of a girl from the Bhil (Beel) tribe in India. We talked about the fact that many of Tribal peoples beliefs are opposite of what God says in the Bible about how we should worship Him. I asked for a volunteer to pray at the end and a little girl in the front row raised her hand. She prayed for the Bhil people by name and that was just awesome!! The second cool thing that happened was when I was sitting in the back as the kids were being dismissed. Now you know how cool a 5th grade boy acts…especially when he’s at camp…but as this one kid walked by me he said to me, “I like missions hour.” And he just kept on walking. (I later found out his name is Danny because I played him in carpet ball after that.) But that also was very cool to me.

And God used both of these things today to show me that some of these kids are actually getting it and just maybe, when they go home, they’ll remember these people groups that we’re talking about and remember that they can have a part in seeing Revelation 7:9 come true. Just by their prayers….because prayer does move the heart of God!

Thanks so much for your continued prayers! You are having a part in what God is doing here this week!

I ran across your blog by clicking on one of my favorites. I didn't know I could link to other blogs by clicking on my blog favorites (books, music, movies, etc..), and stumbled here quite by accident.

Anyway--good for you and the work you are doing. I am being called to missionary work also (I think...). I'm going to ESL camp in Poland next week, and to Tanzania next summer (sooner if I can work it out). I will volunteer for long term as soon as the opportunity arises.

I hope you don't mind my dropping by your blog once in a while....

You are in my prayers..
