I arrived at Raccoon River Bible Camp last night after a little mishap with my directions. I didn’t actually look at a map before I went b/c someone told me that I could take Hwy 141 to Hwy 30. After driving for quite a ways on Hwy 141 I began to question whether or not it actually hooked up with Hwy 30. So I pulled over and got my map out and, sure enough, it didn’t. But I discovered I hadn’t actually gone too much out of my way! I had pulled over into a parking lot directly across the street from Hwy 144, which my map showed, DID in fact hook up with Hwy 30. So off I went grateful that I wasn’t totally lost! I found the camp and got all settled in my cabin and then it was time for dinner. I met some of the camp staff. They’re mostly high school or just out of high school kids spending their summer serving God at Raccoon River Bible Camp. I met the game director, the 2 cooks, the nurse, and one girl said her job, along with another girl, was just to clean toilets. And she said it with a smile! Wow…I thought that was cool.
This morning was my first time speaking and it went pretty well. I had been pretty anxious about it and didn’t sleep well at all last night but now it’s behind me and that is a great feeling!! I came back to my cabin after it was over and slept until lunch! Hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight. Oh!! One very cool thing happened after lunch today. They opened the bookstore for a bit and I was going to check it out when one of the campers, Hannah, stopped me and told me she was making me something out of wood in the craft time this week. That might not seem like much but it was pretty encouraging to me!
Thanks to all who have committed to praying for me this week. I can feel your prayers and they are very appreciated!! I’m not sure how much opportunity I’ll have to post any blogs this week but I’ll do my best to keep you updated.
My favorite song right now is “Reign In Us” by Starfield. If you don’t yet have their newest CD entitled, “I Will Go” you need to get it. It is an amazing worship CD. The chorus for “Reign In Us” is below and it is the cry of my heart this week.
“Oh Great and Mighty One
With one desire we come
That you would reign,
That You would reign in us
We’re offering up our lives
A living sacrifice
That you would reign,
That You would reign in us.”
