Camp - Day 3

Well, I did it. I was talking to my friend, Julie, this morning after my teaching time. She is constantly challenging me to do something. Lately it’s been to eat foods I’ve never tried before but today it was to do something I’ve never done before. Which is ride a zip line. The zip line is open for an hour after I speak each day and then every afternoon for about 2 ½ hours. I didn’t get up enough courage to do it until the last hour today but now I can say I did it! I was a little bit afraid and Sarah, the counselor at the top where you “just step off” had to push me but I still did it!! And I didn’t lose a flip flop, either!! All the kids, of course, loved it and wanted me to do it again. I said maybe tomorrow. MAYBE! Thanks Jules…

So day 3 of camp is almost over…and what a day it’s been. Last night I was spending some time praying and just thanking God for how He is working this week. Not just through me but IN me. I’ve had something really cool happen every day after my teaching time. The first day a girl (I DID find out her name today is not Hannah – it’s Hailey) told me she was going to make me something at the craft cabin this week. And yesterday Danny walked by me and said, “I like missions hour.” I prayed (maybe a little selfishly) for God to do something like that each day. Just to show me these kids really are grasping what we’re talking about. Well today it happened again. This time a whole room of girls came up to me and said they were putting together a skit of all the things we’ve been talking about in missions hour! What?! Very cool…

You see we’ve been talking about the 10/40 Window and the unreached people who live within the 10/40 Window. And we’ve spent time talking about the 5 major religions that are found in that part of the world and how they differ from what the Bible says about God and how we are to worship Him. We’re using the THUMB acronym. T is for Tribal, H is for Hindu, U is for Unreligious (or Atheist), M is for Muslim, and B is for Buddhist.

So this room of 6 girls tell me that they want to act this out. One of them will be the missionary and the other 5 will be one of these people groups. Isn’t that cool? More confirmation for me. So I told them they could do it at the end of Missions Hour on Friday. Tomorrow we’re talking about the Muslim’s and Friday we’ll finish with the Buddhist’s and then they can do their skit when we’re all finished. They thought that was cool. Little do they know that so do I…

By the way, Jules, before the zip line I played some carpet ball in your honor…and I won!!!

A HUGE Happy Birthday to my buddy, Tim, today!!

I was finally able to upload some pictures last night. Check them out under the "My Pictures" link to the right...
