This 'n That

My friend is getting on my case b/c she tells me I'm no longer in Amish country nor am I eating chocolate. So I guess it's time for an update.

I got home from Pennsylvania on Sunday morning at 1:15am. I drove back with my friend, Megan, and we decided to drive straight through. We had breakfast with Erin Latham (missionary from Brasil) Saturday morning and then had to go back to ABWE headquarters to pick something up so we got on the road around 10:30. When we were leaving headquarters there were 2 foxes playing on the side of the road. It was pretty cool! We had a fabulous time during our 16 hour trip and we both commented on how fast it went! I'm not sure we ever stopped talking except when one of us was sleeping. Which wasn't much! It was nice the trip went so fast but bittersweet to say goodbye once we got home. I love the times I'm at the home office with other missionaries. There's nothing like spending time with people who are passionate about the same thing you are and who are at the same point in their missionary journey. It was very encouraging to me and just what I needed to spur me on!

Now I'm in the hunt for a part-time job. Mostly b/c I really can't afford to not work at this point. I applied for a few jobs on Monday - once I got out of bed. :-) That is one perk of being unemployed!! Tuesday I spent the day with a friend and I had softball Tuesday night. Tuesday was an injury sustaining day for me! I won't go into all the details but I had some bumps and bruises before softball and then at softball I ran smack into the fence going for a foul ball (scraped and bruised my knees and right arm and have a nasty bump on my left knee) and I got cracked in the head by a bad hop while playing 3rd base. But, praise the Lord, there was no blood and no ill effects from that injury! Boy did it hurt, though!

Last night I spent the evening with another couple from Ankeny who are going to Brasil. We had a friend visiting from Florida and we grilled hamburgers and then got ice cream. We took each other on in a round of Wii Mini-Golf and it was so much fun! We all finished within 2 strokes of each other but Lucas gets the bragging rights this time. Sorry Teresa...I was pulling for ya! If it wasn't for that one sand trap!!

Ok...I can't imagine you want to hear more of my ramblings so I'll leave you with a quote from a book I'm reading and a challenge.

"For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His." 2 Chronicles 16:9a NASB

"As you read this verse, are you among those people whose hearts are fully His? The promise of this amazing passage is that God is actually looking for people He can strongly support. In other words, God wants to do far more in most all of us than most of us want Him to do."

It's not easy to be fully surrendered to God. What if God asks me to do something that is uncomfortable for me or to move away from all that IS comfortable to me? He does have that right. Because, after all, it's all about His glory not mine (read Acts 5:12-42) and making His name known among the nations (read Revelation 7:9). I never want to build an empire here on earth or gather "things" or even live an easy life. I want to give it all away! Even my own life. For the purpose of making Him known. For the purpose of telling others Who they were created to worship. For the purpose of gathering His Bride.
