Recently I was visiting some friends in Chicago and we did a Bible study on wisdom. Here is Molly's "dissertation" on what we learned...
Pursue wisdom (God’s will and purpose for our lives) over all other things.
Make this your main drive and what you ask for, crave, and ache for (prov 2:2)
For this is what the Bible says wisdom will bring you:
1. Your body will be healthy (prov 3:7-8)
2. Wisdom is more profitable and enjoyable than gold or jewels (prov 3:13-15)
3. There will be order (James 3:13)
4. You will know the mysteries of God (Colos. 2:2-4)
5. Wisdom protects against deceivers (Colos. 2:2-4)
6. Wisdom shows others that you are part of a great nation of wise and understanding people (Deut 4:5-6)
7. Your hearts will be untroubled (John 14:1)
8. You can lead and govern (2 chron 1:8-10)
9. You can expect God to give you wisdom without doubt (James 1: 4-6)
10. You can differentiate between wordly “scheming” and the Lord’s will...the quicker you can decifer in these situations, the better! (1 cor 3:18-21)
11. Humility is an open door for wisdom (prov 11:2)
12. Wise friends are passages to wisdom (prov 13:20)
heeding instruction prior to action-maturity (prov 21:11)
13. Wisdom keeps us safe (prov 28:26)
14. Realizing our lives are not our own is the basis for real wisdom (jeremiah 10:23)
15. A wise person constantly increases his wisdom by being open to advice, correction and instruction, not acting like he knows everything (prov 9:8-9 & prov 12:15)
16. We can learn by experiencing consequences-immaturity OR we can be wise, which is heeding instruction prior to action-maturity (prov 21:11)
17. Wisdom is delightful (prov 10:23)
