Christmas Baking Day

This weekend was our annual Christmas Baking Day...which turned into 2 days of baking! On Saturday I met Sandy at her mom's house and we spent from about 8:30am to almost 6:00pm baking goodies. Only taking a break to dash outside to see Santa go by on the fire truck. Then Sunday I spent the afternoon baking with Sandy, Linda, Kara and Chris. Here are some pics of the weekend...and if you're hungry stop on over!! We've got plenty of peanut butter balls, cookies, and other assorted goodies in the freezer!!

Day Off...

I have the day off work today and I am loving it! I slept in and then my friend, Sandy, picked me up and we went to a late breakfast and then I came back home and have been finishing my homework. Now its mid-afternoon, my homework is done and ready to be sent, and I think I'll go to a movie...

(Leslie, in answer to your question... Yes, it did hurt very much!! I have a pretty high pain tolerance but it was all I could take!! Thanks for liking it!!)

Revealing...

So, three weeks ago I got a new tattoo and I figured now is as good a time as any to reveal it to everyone. Mostly because now it's all healed and all the scabbing is gone. It is the Trinity symbol with my life verse below it written in Portuguese...which is what they speak in Brasil. My life verse if Philippians (Filipenses) 1:27, "Whatever happens, live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then whether I see you or only hear about you in my absence I will know that you stand firm..."

So? What do you think? Personally, I love it!!

Give it the ole college try!!

Here's one of my assignments for Chapter 2:

Find a minimum of 30 observations in the following verse:

Acts 1:8: " But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

A little explanation of the process...observations are different then interpretations. For instance, you can make the observation that the verse starts with the word 'but' which indicates it is a contrast to the previous verse(s). But if you say that the Holy Spirit empowers people for evangelism then that is considered an interpretation. Hmmm. In this assignment I am only to concern myself with what the verse says...not what the verse means. Simply making observations.

So far I have 21...but I have to have a minimum of 30. Wow...now I know why I didn't finish college.....

Bible Class #1

Today I started my first bible class - Methods of Bible Study. The 1st of 4 required classes I need for ABWE. I'm taking it on my own with the help of a Proctor from ABWE who will keep me on track and look over my assignments. Last week I had to send him a suggested schedule for completing this class. So, here's my thinking. I am going to Candidate Seminar in February. That is 11 weeks away and it is a very intense week of training. I really don't want to be taking a class during that week so that gives me 11 weeks to finish this first class. There are 22 chapters in the book so that means I will need to complete 2 chapters, and their assignments, each week. That is the schedule I sent to my Proctor. You can pray for me as I'm a little apprehensive about taking these classes and a lot apprehensive about taking them all on my own! But today I tackled the first chapter and the assignments and it wasn't so bad.

21 chapters to go....

Elves...

My Life as an Elf...

My family's lives as elves...

Let It Snow!

Wow...did we ever get a good little snowstorm today. It started snowing late morning today and when I left work at 5pm it was slow going on the Interstate. When I got to my house Jill was almost finished shoveling the driveway so I parked in the street. Once she was done she pulled their van into the driveway and I went to pull my car in. But I remember my car not doing so well last winter and tonight was no different. The driveway at our house is a hill and after several unsuccessful attempts at pulling we had to resort to something radical...

...we put my nephews in the trunk to give me more weight. The only thought in my mind was, "Well this is a lawsuit waiting to happen..." But my sister-in-law went along with the idea and the boys cheered all the way up the driveway! Then I realized that it probably would be a really good idea to get some weight in my trunk so I'll probably have to buy one of those sandbag logs. But if it helps to keep me safe this winter I guess it'll be worth it.
